The Online Hate Prevention Institute have completed work on a substantive report examining online hate against Muslims.
The report documents 50 Facebook pages which contain examples of vilifying speech. A further two page that do not contain vilifying speech but whose purpose is anti-Muslim are also included. From these pages we document 349 instances of hate speech. Given some content reoccurs in multiple places, these instances represent 191 different examples of hate speech. We have divided these examples into seven categories, each of which is discussed in the report.
Although originally schedule for October, the release of the report has been delayed until November as we are still receiving endorsements and feedback from a range of experts who have been reviewing the draft report. Confidential access to the draft ahead of the reports official launch is available for journalists, civil rights organisations, academics, law enforcement, and government and industry policy makers.
