The IEEE Digital Platforms and Societal Harms Conference 2024 took place in Washington DC on October 14th and 15th and brought together academics, civil society leaders, technology platforms and government leaders to discuss the latest developments, research, and challenges in tackling hate speech, extremism, exploitation and mis/disinformation.
Our CEO, Dr Andre Oboler, served as General Chair of the conference. OHPI Senior Analyst Osiris Parikh attended the conference in person and Analyst Jasmine Beinart attended online. The strong presense from the Online Hate Prevention Institute included one keynote speech and three presentations.
The conference included three amazing panels of experts, two workshops, a public policy and standards session, and 25 presentations from participants.
