On March 22, 2015, OHPI’s CEO Dr Andre Oboler participated in the first Official Jewish-Muslim Dinner in Victoria. It saw the coming together of the two peak bodies for the two communities, the Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) and the Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV). The speakers included the President of JCCV, ICV and the commissioner for the Victorian Multicultural Commission, Chin Tan.

We took the opportunity to speak about the problem of online hate with the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Robin Scott MP, who also attended the dinner. The Victorian Government definitely sees the need to tackle this problem, and OHPI will be discussing this further with the Minister at a later date.
