OHPI is dedicated to combating hate on the Internet. The expression of hate through the internet are a reflection of a wider problem in society. Anonymity, physical distance, and the openness of online society make the expression of hate more prevelant online than in face to face interactions in society.
Hate can be found in all interactive online environments, as well as in websites and blogs that do not allow audience participation. OHPI aims to examine the full breadth of internet communication and to demonstrate where hate manifests and how those in control of different types of platforms can mitigate the problem.
Using classic risk analysis approaches, OHPI believes in focusing our resources in places where expressions of hate can have the most impact. In doing this we hope to reduce the over all impact of online hate.
