2025 Australian Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism

Over 300 mayors, councillors, and community leader gathered in the Gold Coast for the first Australian Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism. The event was jointly run by the Australian Board of the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) and the City of Gold Coast and chaired by the Gold Coast’s Mayor, Tom Tate.

The event featured presentations and panels by international experts, local experts, political leaders, community leaders, and local councillors. The presentations were high quality and informative. Former Senator and Olympic Gold Medal Winner Nova Peris recevied a standing ovation after a powerful talk in which she sharing her experience visiting the site of the Nova Muslic festival massacre, recounted the strong ties between the Jewish and Indigenous communities in Australia, and strongly condemning antisemitism in Australia as she recounted a range of recent incidents that simply have no place in Australia.

The Online Hate Prevention Institute’s CEO, Dr Andre Oboler, presented in the first substantive session of the summit which was focused on “Understanding Antisemitism Today”. Moderated by Simone Abel from the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) it also included international expert Dr Charles Small from the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP).

Dr Oboler’s presentation was well received and a copy is shared here at the request of those who attended.
