OHPI at the Executive Council of Australian Jewry’s AGM

On Nov 29, 2015, the Online Hate Prevention Institute attended the AGM of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry. Among the speakers were Detective Superintendent Stanford of the Australian Federal Police and Penny Wong.

Detective Superintendent Stanford of the Australian Federal Police gave a keynote about the Joint Counter Terrorism Taskforce and Australia’s response to terrorism. OHPI has worked with him and the JCTT in countering extremism and in our SAMIH project countering anti-Muslim hate.

Senator Penny Wong said that all Australians have the right to freely go about their lives, to shop, to go to work, to go to school without fear of discrimination or hate. She said the Jewish community is a community which understand the harms of hate speech to the community and contributes significantly to countering such hate.
