The Online Hate Prevention Institute is concerned proposed changes to the Racial Discrimination Act could open the floodgates for racial abuse on social media.

The Federal Government wants to repeal an aspect of the Act that makes it illegal to offend, humiliate or insult a person or group based on race.

Dr Andre Oboler from the Institute says he doesn’t believe the Government has considered the online implications of the changes.
