In The Australian, on May 12 2026, “Most Jewish women have been accused of genocide and blamed for Israel’s actions, with online antisemitism now exceeding post-October 7 levels, the royal commission has been told.”
Data collected and analysed by OHPI was presented to the Royal Commission.
Online Hate Prevention Institute chief executive Andre Oboler shared with the commission his analysis of the “density” of antisemitism on social media platforms, where X rated second, only behind fringe platform Gab.
Longitudinal data also showed current antisemitism rates across all platforms are higher than the fivefold spike observed straight after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks. Posts justifying antisemitic violence were also on the rise.
“We saw a high level of glorification and justification of violence after October 7, people justifying Hamas’s actions,” Dr Oboler said.
