Submission to the Commonwealth Attorney-General on the Proposed Amendments to the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth)

This report discusses OHPI’s views on the proposed amendments to the Racial Discrimination Act 1975. We argue that the revisions would lead to a loss of sovereignty, in which case the Australian public may be exposed to hateful content that would have otherwise been illegal. We also raise concerns about the elevation of some forms of cyber racism to criminal matters, which may violate online-offline consistency.
