Earlier today we released our report on Online Anti-Muslim Hate and Racism Against Palestinians and Arabs, which, alongside our Online Antisemitism after October 7 report, which received coverage by the Australian Broadcasting Cooperation. Both of the reports show that anti-Muslim hate and antisemitism have skyrocketed since October 7 and the subsequent war in Gaza. This alarming increase of online hate signals that more needs to be done by relevant authorities and government offices, such as eSafety, to tackle it. In the coming months, OHPI will be releasing another report comparing the antisemitic and anti-Muslim hate data. We are also seeking funding to run this project again starting in October, to see if the rates of online hate against Jews and Muslims have changed one year on.
