7.30 interviewed our CEO Dr Andre Oboler as part of a segment on the proposed introduction of new hate speech laws in response to the Bondi Beech massacre. Oboler discusses the likely consequences of these laws, and the effect they could have had on mitigating the likelihood of the Bondi terror attack if they had been implemented sooner. The segment also touches on concerns that the new laws are too narrowly focussed, and should be expanded to also cover different kinds of hate-speech. Oboler commented that such an expansion may be appropriate in the future, but that for now the current issues with antisemitism warrant being addressed directly.
